In a shocking move that has stunned football fans, Tottenham Hotspur has sacked manager Ange Postecoglou just 16 days after he led the team to their first major trophy in 17 years. Despite winning the UEFA Europa League in Bilbao and finally ending a long silverware drought, the club’s board, led by Chairman Daniel Levy, decided it was time for Postecoglou to go.
The news has left fans divided, with many questioning why Spurs would let go of the man who brought them glory after such a long wait.

In response to his exit, Postecoglou penned an emotional letter to Tottenham supporters. He shared his pride and gratitude, saying:
“When I reflect on my time as Manager of Tottenham Hotspur, my overriding emotion is one of pride.”
He described his two years at the club as unforgettable and highlighted the memorable night in Bilbao as the reward for years of hard work and belief.
“That night in Bilbao was the culmination of 2 years of hard work, dedication, unwavering belief in a dream,” he wrote.
Postecoglou also thanked Spurs fans, players, and staff.
“I sincerely want to thank those who are the lifeblood of the club, all the supporters… I always felt that they wanted me to succeed.”
He expressed faith in the current team, saying they have the potential for even more success and that the foundations for the future are now in place.
“We are forever connected. Audere est Facere,” he signed off, quoting the club’s Latin motto, which means To dare is to do.

Tottenham have now gained a reputation for surprising sackings. Mauricio Pochettino was let go just months after reaching the Champions League final, and José Mourinho was sacked less than a week before the 2021 League Cup final.
