Big news is brewing on the blue side of Manchester, and it has everything to do with Manchester City’s next possible signing, Rayan Aït-Nouri. The 23-year-old Algerian left-back has reportedly said yes to a move to City, and negotiations are already underway between the Premier League champions and Wolves.
If you’re not familiar with Aït-Nouri yet, now’s the time to get to know him. Born on June 6, 2001, Rayan is already making serious waves in the football scene. He currently plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he’s been a key part of their starting lineup. He originally joined Wolves on loan from Angers SCO back in 2020, but his performances were so impressive that he earned a permanent spot.

Why Pep Guardiola Wants Him and What He Brings to the Squad
For starters, he’s known for his incredible dribbling, speed, and attacking mindset. He can cut through defenses with ease and isn’t afraid to push forward. Despite playing as a left-back or wing-back, he’s also got an eye for goal. Just this past season, he scored four goals and played over 3,000 minutes across 36 games, a huge number that shows how much Wolves relied on him.
Internationally, Aït-Nouri has represented both France at youth levels and now plays for the Algerian national team. His mix of European-style discipline and North African flair gives him a unique playing edge.

So, how does he fit into Pep Guardiola’s system at Manchester City? Easily. Pep loves versatile, technically gifted players who can attack from the back, and Aït-Nouri fits that mold perfectly. With João Cancelo out of the picture and City looking to freshen up their full-back positions, Rayan could slot right in and thrive under Guardiola’s guidance. His ability to play both defense and attack is exactly what Pep looks for.
While Tino Livramento remains City’s top right-back target, Aït-Nouri seems locked in as the preferred left-back option. It’s clear he’s excited about the move, and fans are already buzzing to see him in sky blue.
