Gor Mahia Sack Coach Mihic after Poor Run

It’s official, Sinisa Mihic is out at Gor Mahia, and let’s just say, it wasn’t the smoothest of exits. After just three months in charge, the Serbian tactician and Gor Mahia have agreed to part ways.

Why? A cocktail of poor form, behind-the-scenes friction, and mounting fan pressure. The writing was on the wall, and after Sunday’s frustrating draw against Murang’a Seal, the situation boiled over.

Gor Mahia, the giants of Kenyan football with a record number of league titles, are chasing glory in the 2024–2025 FKF Premier League. But lately? Things have gone sideways. Only two wins in their last five matches, and just one point from their last two games, that’s not the form of champions.

Thursday, May 15, was the final straw. A shocking 2-1 loss to Nairobi City Stars, a team battling relegation, had fans raising eyebrows. Then came Sunday’s dull goalless draw. After the final whistle, tensions flared at St. Sebastian Park as fans demanded answers from Mihic himself and the pressure cooker finally exploded.

It didn’t help that reports of a rift between Mihic and both his technical bench and senior players were already making the rounds.

Now, with just four games left, Gor Mahia sit third on the table with 54 points, trailing leaders Police FC by seven points, though they have a game in hand. The race isn’t over, but it’s now a steep uphill climb.

Enter assistant coaches Michael Nam and Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno, who’ll guide the ship for the rest of the season. The mission? Win every remaining match and pray for a slip from Police FC.

Players have made a bold promise to fight tooth and nail for the title until the final whistle of the season.

It’s crunch time at K’Ogalo. Will the team rise from the chaos and mount a final charge?
