Manchester United have parted ways with head coach Rúben Amorim with immediate effect, bringing a sudden end to a short but closely watched spell at Old Trafford. The decision was taken by the club’s hierarchy on Monday morning, hours after Amorim’s emotional public outburst that reportedly intensified internal concerns about leadership and stability.
Amorim arrived with a strong reputation as one of Europe’s most progressive young coaches, praised for his tactical clarity, intense pressing systems, and ability to develop young players. From the moment he took charge, United showed signs of structural change. The team became more compact out of possession, transitions were faster, and several fringe players were reintegrated into the matchday squad. His insistence on discipline and tactical responsibility was immediately clear on the training ground and during early fixtures.
Results under Amorim were mixed but showed flashes of promise. United recorded improved performances against possession-based opponents, with better defensive organisation and clearer build up patterns. However, inconsistency remained a major issue, particularly in matches where game management and squad depth were tested. Dropped points in key fixtures and uneven league form increased pressure as expectations remained high.
His rant following the latest result is understood to have played a decisive role in the timing of his dismissal. Manchester United are now expected to appoint an interim coach as they reassess their direction once again, with stability and results firmly back at the top of the agenda.
