Kenyan comedian and media personality Sande Bush, known as Dr Ofweneke, has shared a firm message about the significance of purpose in relationships and marriage. In a video posted on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, he emphasised that everything God created was intentional, including the roles men and women play in each other’s lives. His reflections centred on one key point: purpose should come before partnership.
Ofweneke explained that purpose forms the foundation of a man’s life and must be discovered before he enters any romantic relationship. “I am learning something about purpose, and I am learning that everything that God did was very intentional and deliberate; there is nothing that God did or created that did not have a purpose,” Ofweneke said. He added that, “But I am also learning that before God gave a man a woman, before God gave man a wife, God gave him purpose first.”
Why Does Ofweneke Believe Purpose Comes Before Relationships?
According to Ofweneke, it is dangerous for a man to get into a relationship or marriage without understanding his purpose. He noted that this lack of direction affects not only the man but also the woman who chooses to partner with him. “That is why I keep on telling men that it is very dangerous when you get into a marriage or relationship setup when you do not understand your purpose, and women, it is very dangerous when you get entangled or when you get involved with a man who has not discovered his purpose yet,” he added.
He stressed that a man without purpose lacks a vision and a path to follow. This creates instability for anyone depending on him for leadership. “A man who does not have his purpose does not have a vision and does not have a pathway to where he is leading, and there is nothing as dangerous as a woman being led by a man who can not even lead himself first.”
Ofweneke further explained that many men experience depression, jealousy, bitterness, confusion, or even stress-related illnesses because they have not discovered their purpose. “After creation, a man was given purpose; his purpose was to dominate, a lot of us men are walking without knowing our purpose; that is why we are getting into depression; we have jealousy and bitterness,” he said. “We are confused, and we have ulcers because we have not discovered our purpose, and purpose is the right to dominate, and purpose can only come from God.”

What Warning Did He Give Women About Choosing Partners?
Ofweneke warned women to be cautious when forming relationships with men who lack vision. He shared that if both partners have no purpose, the relationship becomes directionless. “Women, you cannot get involved by a man who does not have a purpose to dominate. If a woman who does not have purpose and vision gets involved with a man who have not have purpose and vision, you are both two blind people who can not walk anywhere,” he warned.
His message encouraged both men and women to prioritise clarity, vision, and purpose before committing to each other, reminding audiences that strong relationships grow from a foundation of direction and self-awareness.
