Lydia Wanjiru has opened up about her recovery after undergoing a BBL procedure, describing the concerns she had before the surgery, how her body reacted and the steps she has been taking to support her healing. She shared the details through an Instagram update posted on Friday, November 5, 2025, noting that she entered the process with worries based on experiences she had seen from other people.

What challenges did Lydia expect during her BBL recovery?
In her post, Lydia said her biggest fear was related to skin changes she had observed in other people who had gone through similar procedures. “I had feared that my tummy would go completely black/dark as I’ve seen from others’ healing process, but mine didn’t turn as much,” she said. She used her experience to highlight that every healing process is different and that bodies respond in their own ways.

She encouraged anyone considering or recovering from a cosmetic procedure to stay in close contact with qualified medical professionals. Lydia explained that maintaining communication with her doctor helped her stay calm and understand the difference between normal healing signs and issues that needed medical clarification. “You just have to stay in touch with your doctor and hospital in case you need clarification,” she said.

What signs did Lydia notice during the healing process?
Lydia revealed that she first noticed changes on her left side, where the healing began. She said that the earliest signs included itching and later peeling. “This is my left side. How do you know you’re healing? When your skin starts feeling itchy followed by intense peeling,” she explained. She added that peeling should not create panic because it is part of the body’s recovery process. According to her, proper cleaning and moisturising helped manage the changes. “You just have to shower and moisturise, and there’s nothing to worry about! Most of it has gone down now, actually.”

She reflected on the effort behind her decision while making it clear that her choice was personal. She compared her results to the time and work needed through exercise, although she acknowledged that every individual has their own considerations. “But I’d choose this any day, anytime, because how long would gym and dieting take me to get such a body?” she said. She added that time influences many decisions, saying, “Mambo ni mengi masaa ni machache, literally.”

Lydia closed her message by reminding her followers that everyone has the right to choose what works best for them. She recognised that procedures like BBLs come with significant risks and emphasised that anyone thinking about undergoing one must be fully prepared, properly informed and medically supported.
