Police in Buruburu are investigating the killing of a 41-year-old man following a stabbing incident that unfolded on Thursday morning in the Nairobi estate, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood and raising serious concerns about youth violence and domestic disputes.
The victim, identified as Collins Onyango, was at his nephew’s residence when an argument reportedly broke out between him and a 17-year-old girl. According to police reports, the disagreement escalated quickly and turned violent inside the house. During the confrontation, the teenager allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Onyango in the neck.
A neighbour who witnessed the incident raised the alarm and alerted authorities. Emergency efforts were made to save Onyango’s life as he was rushed to Edel Vale Trust Jamaa Mission Hospital in Buruburu. Despite the quick response, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, confirming the severity of the injury.
Officers from the National Police Service arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report. They secured the area and recovered the suspected murder weapon, believed to be the kitchen knife used during the altercation. Detectives also processed both the scene and the hospital as part of standard procedure in homicide investigations.
Onyango’s body was later transferred to the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved ahead of a postmortem examination that will help establish further medical details surrounding his death.
