Pastor Victor Kanyari has opened up about why he has remained single for more than seven years after his marriage with gospel singer Betty Bayo came to an end, saying he has never met another woman who meets the standards he values in a life partner. Speaking during Betty’s memorial service on Sunday, November 16, 2025, the Salvation Healing Ministries preacher said that even though many people have questioned his decision, his reasons are rooted in personal conviction, family priorities, and emotional caution.

Why Did Pastor Kanyari Choose Not to Remarry?

Kanyari said that no woman he has met since the separation has had the qualities he admired in Betty. “The reason why I have never remarried is that I have never found a woman like Betty Bayo again. The other women I meet are either crazy or lack the qualities I want in a life partner,” he said. He explained that emotional stability, intelligence, and the ability to manage a household while remaining a supportive partner are traits he has struggled to find.

He added that he would rather stay single than settle for someone who could bring conflict into his home or negatively affect his two children, Dani and Sky Victor. “I have never met a woman in this church who is mentally stable and whom I would consider marrying. The women in this church are not of sound mind, and I know how to read character,” he added.

Kanyari emphasised that protecting his children remains his top priority. Their emotional well-being and environment play a major role in his decision-making, especially now that they are older and more aware of the world around them. “I cannot take someone randomly to trouble my children or myself. I would rather stay alone. I will stay alone,” he shared.

How Has Social Media Influence Shaped His Decision?

Social media behaviour, according to Kanyari, has also become a major factor in his choice to remain single. He said he avoids relationships that could disturb his peace, create emotional instability, or expose him to unnecessary pressure. “I have to be careful about what I see on social media. I cannot take in things that disturb my mind. I also cannot marry someone whose behaviour or what they tell me could make me anxious or unbalanced,” he said.

Kanyari noted that as he grows older, he feels more confident in choosing peace over companionship, especially when he believes his children are in a stable and healthy environment.

His remarks come shortly after the passing of his ex-wife, Betty Bayo, who died last week following a battle with acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding. She was first admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital, where she passed away at 1:03 pm on Monday.

Preparations for her final send-off are underway, with the main burial set for Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Ndumberi Stadium. Friends, family, and fellow gospel artistes continue to honour her memory, describing her as a gifted musician whose music and ministry left a lasting impact on many lives.
