DJ Moh Mourns Gospel Star Betty Bayo After 15-Year Friendship

DJ Moh has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of gospel singer Betty Bayo, describing her as more than a friend; she was family. The two shared over fifteen years of close friendship, and her passing has left an emotional void in Kenya’s gospel and entertainment community.

In a heartfelt tribute shared on Monday, November 10, 2025, DJ Moh reflected on the joy and warmth that Betty brought to everyone around her. “A sister for more than 15 years, a friend who was full of happiness. Yaani leo, whole day in hospital, couldn’t believe you are no more… it is well; God had His plans… Bye bye, Siz @bettybayo_official,” he wrote. He also extended words of comfort to Betty’s husband, saying, “To my bro Tash… Be strong. My wife and I have your back.”

What Happened to Gospel Singer Betty Bayo?

According to a family representative, Betty Bayo passed away at Kenyatta National Hospital at 1:03 pm on Monday, November 10, 2025. She had been battling acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding since the previous week, initially admitted to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road, her condition worsened, leading to her transfer to Kenyatta National Hospital on Friday, November 7.

“We are here at Kenyatta National Hospital’s private wing. The spouse, the father of their children, and friends of Betty Bayo want to inform the public that today at 1:03 pm, we have lost Betty, and it is no longer a rumour,” the family representative announced. “Betty had been unwell since last week, suffering from acute leukaemia and excessive bleeding. She was first taken to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road before being transferred here on Friday.”

What Are the Family’s Next Steps?

The family confirmed that arrangements are underway to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where preparations for her final send-off will continue. “The doctors did their best, but the will of God has been fulfilled. We are planning to move her body to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, and all communications will follow,” the representative added.

Present during the official announcement were her husband, Hiram Gitau, her ex-husband, Pastor Victor Kanyari, along with close family and friends who stood together in mourning.

Betty Bayo’s passing marks a heartbreaking moment in Kenya’s gospel scene, with tributes pouring in from fans and fellow artists who remember her not just for her music, but for her unwavering faith and radiant spirit.
