Terence Creative Apologizes to Kisii Community over Controversial Facebook Post

Content creator Terence Creative has issued a heartfelt apology to the Kisii community after a Facebook post he shared sparked outrage and was perceived as an attack on the community’s leaders.

In a statement posted on Instagram on Friday, October 31, 2025, Terence expressed deep remorse over the incident and emphasized that his words were never meant to cause offense or division. “My apologies to the Kisii community in general about a previous post that was posted on my Facebook page. Naomba msamaha saana, I didn’t mean any harm. Nawapenda saana na nawaheshimu pamoja na viongozi wenyu,” he wrote.

The apology was accompanied by a short video in which the comedian elaborated on his regret and assured Kenyans that his intentions had been misunderstood.

What Did Terence Creative Say in His Apology?

In his video, Terence directly addressed both his followers and members of the Kisii community. “Hello Kenyans, I want to apologise sincerely for the post I made on my Facebook page, which deeply upset the Kisii community. I remind you that I love the Kisii people and respect your leaders,” he said.

He clarified that he has never practiced or supported tribalism and that his post had no hidden political or ethnic message. Terence explained that he had not realized how his statement could be interpreted negatively and reminded his audience that he has always avoided divisive content online. “I am not tribal, and I have never, at any point, taken sides along ethnic lines. I did not know that the post would hurt anyone. Even my followers know that I have never posted anything like that before, so I apologise sincerely. I love all Kisii people and their leaders, and I respect you all,” he added.

What Sparked the Backlash?

The backlash stemmed from a Facebook post in which Terence speculated about a Kisii leader taking a key government seat in 2027, writing, “Assume huyo Mkisii amechukua kiti 2027, sasa nipangie hiyo cabinet.”

The post went viral shortly after former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i was endorsed by the Jubilee Party as its 2027 presidential flagbearer. Many interpreted Terence’s words as a direct mockery of Matiang’i, sparking an online uproar.

Following the criticism, Terence took immediate action to clarify his position, delete the post, and publicly apologize, emphasizing that he values peace, unity, and mutual respect among all Kenyan communities.

Through his public statement, Terence reaffirmed his commitment to using his platform for entertainment, positivity, and national cohesion, urging Kenyans to move past the misunderstanding and continue embracing unity.
