FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Ghanaian football fans for their unmatched energy, passion, and style following the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The historic achievement came after Ghana’s thrilling 1–0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night, sealing their place at the global showpiece for the fifth time.
In a video message shared after the match, Infantino congratulated both the team and its supporters, calling Ghana’s qualification a victory not just for the players but for the fans whose energy continues to make world football unforgettable.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history. Your fans will bring colours, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026 in Canada, Mexico and the United States,” he said.
How Have Ghanaian Fans Shaped the World Cup Experience?
Infantino highlighted the unique impact Ghana’s supporters have on the global stage, noting that their rhythm, music, and culture have consistently energized World Cup tournaments. He described their presence as “a celebration of football in its purest form,” emphasizing how their spirit brings identity and emotion to the global game.
The FIFA President also reflected on Ghana’s unforgettable 2010 World Cup run in South Africa, where the Black Stars reached the quarter-finals and came within a whisker of becoming the first African team to make the semi-finals. He expressed optimism that this new generation could follow in those footsteps and inspire a new wave of football icons.
“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarterfinals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010,” Infantino added.

What Lies Ahead for the Black Stars?
Infantino encouraged Ghanaians to celebrate the qualification while anticipating the next stage of their journey.
“But for now, enjoy this special moment, and we cannot wait to see who the Black Stars will face when we have the final tournament draw on the 5th of December,” he said.
As Ghana prepares for its fifth appearance at the World Cup, excitement is already building across the country. The Black Stars’ return to the world stage is not just about competition; it’s a moment for Ghana to display once again its football artistry, unity, and the unmatched flair of its fans.
