Faith Kipyegon Wins Historic Fourth World 1500m Title in Tokyo

Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon made history in Tokyo by claiming her fourth women’s world 1500 metres crown, delivering yet another dominant performance on Tuesday. The three-time Olympic champion clocked 3:52.15, extending her incredible medal collection and cementing her status as one of the greatest middle-distance runners of all time.

How Did Kipyegon Secure Her Record-Breaking Win?
The 31-year-old ran a commanding race from the start, setting the pace in a true gun-to-tape style. With two laps remaining, Kipyegon was tracked by Australia’s Jessica Hull and her Kenyan teammate Beatrice Chepchirchir but showed no signs of slowing down. At the bell, the crowd at the National Stadium erupted as Kipyegon surged forward, opening an unstoppable gap. Her final burst on the back straight left her rivals trailing, and she crossed the line with arms raised in triumph.

Who Joined Kipyegon on the Podium?
Kenya celebrated even more success as Dorcus Ewoi powered through the last stretch to secure silver in 3:54.92. Hull held on for bronze with 3:55.16, narrowly edging out Chepchirchir in a dramatic sprint finish. This one-two finish underlined Kenya’s depth in the event, reinforcing the nation’s dominance in middle-distance running.

Kipyegon’s fourth world title equals the record of Morocco’s Hicham El Guerrouj, who won the men’s 1500m between 1997 and 2003. This achievement further strengthens her legacy, not only as Kenya’s finest but also as one of the greatest to ever step on the track.

With her Tokyo triumph, Faith Kipyegon has once again proven why she is the benchmark in the 1500m. Her relentless pace, control, and explosive finish make her a legend whose impact on athletics will be felt for generations.
