KDF Announces October 2025 Nationwide Recruitment

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has opened applications for its 2025 mass recruitment, set to take place across the country in October. The exercise targets General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets, Specialist Officers, Tradesmen and women, as well as professionals in fields such as Education, Engineering, ICT, Mass Communication, Legal, and Supply Chain Management.

“The recruitment period offers a unique opportunity to serve your country in a vital, supportive capacity,” KDF said in a statement.

Successful candidates will go through rigorous selection and training aimed at instilling discipline, patriotism, and technical competence. Interested applicants are encouraged to confirm their eligibility and meet the academic, physical, and professional requirements before applying.

What are the requirements for GSO Cadets?

For GSO Graduate Cadets, applicants must have at least a mean grade of B (Plain) in KCSE with C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject, alongside a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. Training will last fifteen months.

For GSO Regular Cadets, the minimum requirement is also a B (Plain) in KCSE with C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject. Training will run for three years, leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Defence and Security Studies.

Who can apply for Specialist Officers?

Applicants must hold a degree from a recognized university and, where applicable, be registered with a statutory or regulatory body in their field. They should also have scored at least a B (Plain) in KCSE with C+ (Plus) in English, Mathematics, and one Science subject, except for Chaplains and Imams who require a C+ (Plus). Training for Specialist Officers will last six months.

What are the requirements for Tradesmen and Women?

KDF has outlined two entry paths for Tradesmen and women. Those applying with a Craft Certificate must have a KCSE mean grade of D+ (Plus) along with a Government Trade Test Grade II or Craft II from a recognized institution. Applicants with a Diploma need a KCSE mean grade of C (Plain) and a relevant Diploma or higher from a recognized institution, with registration from statutory bodies where required.
