What Went Wrong for United at Fulham?
Manchester United’s wait for a first Premier League victory of the season continued after a frustrating 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Ruben Amorim’s side had the chance to seize control early when Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take a first-half penalty, but the captain blasted his shot over the bar. That miss proved costly as United were later pegged back despite finally finding the net.
The breakthrough came in the 60th minute, but not from United’s own finishing power. Rodrigo Muniz deflected Leny Yoro’s header into his own net to give the visitors the lead. Fulham, however, refused to fade. Substitute Emile Smith Rowe punished United’s lapse in concentration by slotting home Alex Iwobi’s cross with just 17 minutes left.

How Are Amorim’s New Signings Performing?
Amorim is trying to rebuild confidence after last season’s 15th-place finish, but his expensive new attack is yet to deliver. The £200 million trio of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko have not produced the goals United desperately need. Sesko, in particular, remained on the bench once again, leaving supporters wondering when the forward line will click.
United opened the campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, and while the performance at Fulham showed more intent, two points slipped away once again. VAR decisions also played a controversial role, with Fulham left angered after appeals against Yoro went unanswered. For Amorim, the challenge now is to turn these improved displays into wins before pressure builds further.
The season may only be two games old, but United’s inability to secure victories is already fueling concern. The coming weeks will test whether Amorim’s project can finally lift the club back into contention.
