
The Machakos County Public Service Board has announced 500 job opportunities for nurses, calling on qualified Kenyans with certificates, diplomas, or degrees to apply. The county emphasized its commitment to equal opportunity employment and encouraged women, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged groups to submit applications before the September 10, 2025, deadline.
How Can Applicants Apply for Machakos Nursing Jobs?
Applications must be made through the county’s official online recruitment portal. According to the notice, “Applications must be received on or before September 10, 2025, by 5:00 pm. Any applications tendered later than the above date and time will not be able to upload.” Candidates are required to attach their academic and professional certificates when applying.
Which Nursing Positions Are Available?
The county declared several openings across different nursing levels. These include:
Registered Nurse III – 300 positions
Duties include planning nursing interventions, evaluating patient outcomes, and delivering healthcare services such as immunization, antenatal care, and PMTCT. Applicants need a diploma in nursing, midwifery, mental health, or community health, along with a valid Nursing Council of Kenya license.
Enrolled Nurse III – 70 positions
Responsibilities involve assessing patients, establishing care needs, and implementing interventions. A certificate in nursing or a related field, plus a valid license, is required.
Nursing Officer – 30 positions
Candidates will provide holistic care, perform risk assessments, and conduct physical examinations. A bachelor’s degree in nursing or midwifery and valid registration are necessary.
Registered Nurse I – 60 positions
Duties include providing general nursing services and supporting medical officers. Applicants must hold a diploma in nursing or a related field with valid registration.
Additionally, Machakos announced 30 positions for registered nurses (anaesthesia) and 20 positions for Registered Nurse I at job group K.
Which Other Institutions Have Announced Jobs?
Beyond Machakos County, several institutions have recently opened opportunities. The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) is offering student attachments with an August 26 deadline. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has advertised over 300 roles for graduates and professionals. The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife also announced multiple openings for certificate, diploma, bachelor’s, and master’s degree holders.
With healthcare at the heart of this recruitment drive, Machakos County’s call for 500 nurses marks one of the largest recent public service opportunities for medical professionals.
