Jack Grealish is set to join Everton on loan for the 2025-26 Premier League campaign after reportedly agreeing a deal with the club. The move comes as a fresh opportunity for the 29-year-old Manchester City winger, whose career has stalled over the past year. Everton will open their season away to Leeds on August 18, with Grealish expected to be a major addition to their starting lineup.
Grealish, who earns a reported £300,000 ($402,000) per week, struggled for game time under Pep Guardiola last season, making only seven Premier League starts. He was notably excluded from City’s squad for the Club World Cup in the United States, intensifying speculation about his future.
Why Is Grealish Leaving Manchester City?
Since joining City from Aston Villa in 2021 for a then-British record £100 million, Grealish has won three Premier League titles, the Champions League, and the FA Cup. However, his form dipped after his influential role in City’s 2022-23 treble-winning season. He was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad, a decision he admitted left him “heartbroken.”
Guardiola rarely selected him last season, even during City’s struggles, and he remained on the bench during the FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace. The move to Everton offers him a chance to reignite his form and fight for a place in England’s squad ahead of next year’s World Cup.
Everton, now playing in their new Hillsborough Stadium, have had a quiet summer in the transfer market. Grealish is set to be their biggest signing since last season ended. Under David Moyes, he will likely be a central figure in the club’s push for a stronger campaign, aiming to make an immediate impact in front of the Toffees’ fans.
