George Ruto’s trendy Mood matatu is back in the spotlight after returning to the garage for a new upgrade, a refrigerator. Already known for its luxurious design and nightclub feel, the matatu, owned by President William Ruto’s son, is now being fitted with extra features aimed at making it even more exclusive.
The upgrade was revealed in a new video posted by Mood’s driver, Lenny, who proudly showcased the vehicle and explained its ongoing modifications. “Ni cocktails,” he said, hinting that the fridge will serve more than just cold drinks; it’s about elevating the whole experience.

What Makes the Mood Matatu So Special?
Launched grandly at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) on July 18, Mood immediately caused a stir, bringing Nairobi’s CBD to a near standstill. Unlike ordinary matatus, Mood comes packed with premium features including:
65-inch TV screens
A built-in DJ deck
Plush bucket seats
Spacious dancing area
Seating for 25 passengers (instead of the usual 32)
This makes Mood one of the most extravagant PSVs on Kenyan roads, and many believe it’s already setting a new standard in matatu culture.
What Are Kenyans Saying About the Fridge Installation?
As expected, the internet had plenty to say:
@oliviaakinyi: “I’m in for the cocktail.”
@brychj: “Hata mweke cooker… Kenya One bado.”
@wakaniruhusuuniversity: “Iyo ata waeke waiters ndani wakutu serve bado oppo ni haifikii Mood.”
@edgarsoudie: “It’s like this is the job for 8 million youth Ruto promised. Lenny is earning a salary from that Mood. What about those other young people?”
While some were impressed by the innovation, others saw it as over-the-top. But one thing’s clear, Mood is keeping tongues wagging.
How Much Does Mood Matatu Earn Daily?
In a previous interview with Ghetto Radio, Lenny opened up about working with George Ruto and the vehicle’s financial performance. When asked if George monitors earnings, Lenny clarified that a manager handles the business side.
He also revealed that Mood makes an estimated KSh 20,000 in profit daily, meaning the matatu could recover its KSh 14 million investment in just under two years.
With its bold upgrades, sleek design, and now a cocktail-friendly fridge, Mood isn’t just a ride, it’s an experience. And if the hype continues, it may well be crowned “Kenya One” in the matatu world.
