Alejandro Garnacho is under fire after being spotted driving an untaxed Audi to Manchester United’s training ground, as reported by The Daily Mail. The 21-year-old winger’s vehicle had tax due on October 1, 2024, and was not declared off-road, making it illegal to use on public roads. If the issue isn’t resolved, Garnacho could face a fine of £30 (KSh 5,000) and one-and-a-half times the unpaid tax. Failure to pay may escalate the matter into criminal charges with penalties reaching £1,000 (KSh 173,000) or five times the tax owed.
What led to Garnacho’s fallout at Manchester United?
Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford has been in doubt since the Europa League final, where he was benched until late in the game. Frustrated, he told the press, “Up until the final, I played every round helping the team, and today I play 20 minutes, I don’t know. The final will influence [my decision,] but the whole season, the situation of the club.” His relationship with manager Ruben Amorim also appeared to break down when, before the final game of the season, the coach reportedly told him to “find a new club” in front of the entire squad.

Garnacho has been permitted to skip Manchester United’s pre-season to explore a move. Previously linked to Napoli in January, he’s now attracting attention from Premier League sides Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. Villa’s financial constraints after missing Champions League qualification may limit their chances. Chelsea’s interest remains unclear due to their ongoing spending spree, while Tottenham are reportedly seeking a left winger, putting them in pole position.
