Kenyan football star Michael Olunga has officially ended his time with Qatari side Al Duhail after four memorable years. The 31-year-old striker, who also captains the Harambee Stars, leaves the club as its all-time top scorer with an incredible 130 goals.

Olunga joined Al Duhail in 2021 from Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol, with the deal reportedly worth close to Ksh. 1 billion. Since then, he has become one of the most lethal forwards in the Qatari Stars League, helping his team win several domestic titles during his stay. His powerful presence and consistent scoring made him a fan favorite.

This season, however, was disappointing for both Olunga and Al Duhail. The team failed to win any major trophies, and speculation about his future grew stronger as the months passed. Eventually, both the player and the club confirmed the end of their partnership.

In an official statement, Al Duhail praised Olunga’s contribution to the team, describing him as “an example of professionalism and discipline.” The club thanked him for his role in their successes over the years, adding that he would always be welcome at the club. “You will always be an integral part of the Duhail family,” the statement concluded.

Olunga also shared a farewell message with fans and teammates through his social media accounts.

“Veni Vidi Vici. Thank you for everything, Al Duhail,” he wrote.

“Leaving as all-time goal scorer, 130 goals, and memories. Thank you for the trust.”

Despite the quiet ending to the season, Olunga’s performance over the past year was still impressive. He continued to find the net consistently, both in domestic matches and international duty with Kenya. He scored crucial goals for the Harambee Stars in qualifiers and friendly matches, proving he remains one of Africa’s most dependable forwards.

With his departure now confirmed, all eyes are on Olunga’s next move. Rumors are already swirling about interest from clubs in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
